SOLD IN BOXES OF 50.
These projectiles are reproductions of the Springfield Armory .45/70 bullet, cast on a custom mold made for me by Brooks Tru-Bore. They are a nose-cast, hollow-base bullet cast in soft alloy weighing in at nominally 400gr. For those of you who've shot the Lee 459-405HB bullet, this should be nothing but an improvement. The ogive is much rounder, the cannelures are much sharper in profile, and the cavity is deeper. This style of projectile was standard in the .45/70 Government Cartridge from adoption in 1873 until 1884 when the projectile weights were increased to 500gr.
However, as modern brass is restrictive in capacity when using black powder, I have elected to reproduce the 400gr version to allow for as much room in the case as possible.
As I spend some quality range time with these bullets I will update this listing to include my load data.
Diameter on these is .459", overall length is 1.130".
